 GCLSL is a recreational women’s fastpitch league. You must be 18+ to join. All skill levels are welcome.

No, our league does not accept team submissions. We are a draft league, where each year, captains are nominated to lead teams. After registration in March, we hold an official draft night, during which the captains select their teams. This draft process keeps the league fair and balanced, creating an inclusive environment for all players.

We are scheduled to play starting in May and ending in September. Each year, all teams participate in a Spring and Fall weekend tournament, as well as playoffs in September.

Our home field is Graham Bell Diamond, right beside Jack Charron hockey arena in Glen Cairn. It is located at 10 McItrick Drive. 

Regular season games are typically played on Mondays or Tuesdays at 6:15 PM or 8:00 PM once a week. If there are rainouts, these games will be held on the next available Thursday at 6:15 PM.

Players need a glove, helmet, and appropriate clothing. Helmets are mandatory while batting. Teams are provided with bats, balls, and catcher equipment. Players also will receive a new jersey, according to the size they submitted, each season. 

Although our league does not require pitchers or infielders to wear protective face masks, their use is strongly encouraged. In particular, pitchers are at greater risk due to their position on the field, and we highly recommend that they consider wearing a mask. Players who choose to wear protective equipment are fully supported and encouraged in doing so, as safety remains a priority for our league.

Typically, teams have 10-13 players on the team, depending on registration.

 We do our best to accommodate buddy requests during registration, but we can’t guarantee placement, as the league teams are created through a draft format. 

Yes. Every game is umpired by an experienced official from the Eastern Ontario Umpire Association (EOUA).

We host a virtual registration normally in January for the upcoming season. Average league fees can range from $180-250 each year, depending on diamond and umpire costs. 

Fees include a team jersey, two tournaments, 18 regular season games, playoffs, and a year membership to the Kanata Sports Club. 

If registration is full, you can join the waitlist at no cost. You don’t pay anything unless a spot opens up and you accept the invitation to join the league.

Waitlisted players are usually contacted if someone gets injured, goes on maternity leave, or has to step away from the season for any reason.
 

If you're called up, you'll be asked if you're available to join, and the registration fee will be prorated based on how much of the season remains.
